Viral marketing is the equivalent of online word-of-mouth.\nViral marketing, aka Buzz marketing, uses all of the digital marketing media to\ndisseminate a message which is passed along from person to person; it is viral\nbecause it spreads like a virus or disease and if successful, communications\ncan expand exponentially. You are not paying to spread the word as you would be\nin a Pay-Per-Click (PPC) campaign. Viral marketing campaigns are often spread\nvia e-mail or social media (and here we include YouTube as well). The campaign\ncan reach a large number of individuals in a relatively small amount of time,\nand this would be useful to your small company in many instances. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"445\" height=\"340\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.marketingteacher.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/marketing-teacher-viral.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7091\" srcset=\"https:\/\/marketingteacher.com\/staging\/5483\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/marketing-teacher-viral.png 445w, https:\/\/marketingteacher.com\/staging\/5483\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/marketing-teacher-viral-300x229.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 445px) 100vw, 445px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\">Viral marketing is an opportunity<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What makes a successful viral?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It can be funny<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A Viral can be outrageous<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It has a unique or controversial approach<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Culture can be challenged such as gender or\n     class<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Try something that has no connection with your\n     product.<strong><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Keep virals small and focused<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Remember, you are an\nentrepreneur or small business.&nbsp;\nTherefore, something which goes viral may be completely out of your\ncontrol!&nbsp; Do you really want national and\nglobal coverage for your product or service?&nbsp;\nIt is more likely that you will need some niche, or local coverage.&nbsp; Therefore, tailor your viral to your niche\nmarket, or your local customers.&nbsp; For the\nsmall business person, a viral might mean that you target five segments of your\nmost loyal customers with your promotion &#8211; with 10 friends in each, extending\nyour potential customer interaction to 50 people.&nbsp; These 50 people are more likely to be\ninterested in your product or service, and will trust the person who recommends\nyou.&nbsp; Keep your virals small and focused.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Viral marketing is an often discussed term, but how will it help you to market your small business?
