Marketing Teacher Ltd (“we”, “us”) is an educational resource for marketing students, teachers and professionals, published at marketingteacher.com. The lesson library is free to read. We also sell online courses. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and how you can control it. If you have questions, get in touch via our contact form.
Information we collect
Contact form submissions. If you use our contact form, we collect the name, email address and message you provide. This is sent directly to our inbox by email to respond to you — it is not stored in a database on this site.
Usage data. Like most websites, we automatically collect basic technical data when you visit — such as your IP address, browser type, device type, and the pages you view — through Jetpack Stats, for basic traffic analytics.
Comments. If you leave a comment on a lesson, we collect the name, email and content you submit, and use Akismet to help filter spam.
Course accounts. Reading the free lesson library needs no account. Buying or taking one of our courses does. When you enrol we collect your name, email address and the password you set, and we keep a record of which courses you have access to and when that access expires.
Learning records. While you take a course we record your progress through the lessons, your quiz attempts and scores, and the date you complete it. You can see all of this in your own dashboard. If you earn a certificate, the name on your account is printed on it.
Purchases. When you buy a course we keep a record of the order — what you bought, when, the amount and the currency. We never see or store your card details. Payment is handled entirely by PayPal, who act as their own data controller and process your payment under their privacy policy, not ours.
Mailing list. If you choose to join our mailing list, we collect the email address you give us, and our email provider records whether our emails are delivered and opened. You are never added without asking, and every email carries an unsubscribe link.
Cookies and advertising
The free lesson library is supported by advertising through Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies and similar technologies to show personalised ads based on your visits to this and other websites. We do not run advertising anywhere in the course area — course, lesson and quiz pages carry no ads.
When you first visit, you’re asked to consent to advertising cookies. You can change your choice at any time using the “Privacy and cookie settings” link shown at the bottom of every page.
We do not control what Google or its partners do with this data beyond what’s described in Google’s own policies.
How we use your information
We use the data described above only to: respond to messages you send us; give you access to courses you have bought and record your progress through them; issue certificates; take payment and keep proper records of sales; send you the emails you have asked for; keep the site secure and working properly; understand how the site is used so we can improve it; and, where you’ve consented, show relevant advertising in the free lesson library.
Sharing your information
We don’t sell your personal data. We share it only with the service providers that help run this site, and only as needed for them to provide those services: PayPal (payment processing), Brevo (mailing list and course emails), Google (advertising in the free library, on your consent), and Automattic/Jetpack (site security and analytics). Where an institution buys course places for its learners, we confirm to that institution who has been enrolled and who has completed the course.
How long we keep it
Course accounts, learning records and certificates are kept for as long as you have an account with us, so that you can prove what you have completed. Order records are kept for as long as tax and accounting rules require. Mailing list entries are kept until you unsubscribe. You can ask us to delete your account at any time.
Your rights
If you’re in the UK, EU or a similar jurisdiction, you generally have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, request a copy of it, ask us to correct or delete it, and object to or withdraw consent for how it’s used. To do any of this, get in touch via our contact form.
Children
This site is not directed at children, and we don’t knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18.

We’ll update this page if what we collect or how we use it changes. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
